Presented at Sanat Gallery in 2015, “Detritus from Exploding Stars” by Khalil Chishtee transformed discarded plastic bags into fragile, life-sized figurative forms that explored rupture, metamorphosis, and the human condition.
Weightless and vulnerable, the suspended figures carried a quiet sense of presence- existing between permanence and disappearance. Through these ephemeral materials, Chishtee questioned ideas of waste, mortality, and identity, while reflecting on the invisible connections that bind communities, memories, and lived experiences together.
The exhibition invited viewers into a contemplative sensory field, where destruction and creation coexisted, and debris became a poetic trace of survival and transformation.
