Nisbat Road to Troutman Street is a solo exhibition by Brooklyn-based multidisciplinary artist Khalil Chishtee, hosted at the Sanat Initiative in Karachi. The body of work serves as a deeply personal and geographic bridge between two defining spaces in the artist's life: the historic, bustling Nisbat Road in downtown Lahore where he grew up, and the vibrant, street-art-centric Troutman Street in Bushwick, Brooklyn, where he currently works.
Through Chishtee’s signature approach of manipulating discarded consumer materials—layering, cutting, and assembling everyday plastic grocery, trash, and kitchen bins bags—the exhibition presents a series of predominantly figurative, mixed-media works. The collection explores the parallel energies, socio-political layers, and visual histories of both neighborhoods, investigating universal themes of memory, displacement, cultural renewal, and the seamless coexistence of past and present.
